Organic versus Geometric
These are works that represent the passage from organic
or bio-morphic forms and their gradual confrontation with
the geometric and with "hard-edge" techniques. In the
1960s that confrontation was a new and unexplored
approach in Israeli art. Gradually, out of personal choice,
the geometric tendency became dominant accompanied
by a growing realization that geometric forms and later,
geometric patterns, were a relatively untapped and
supremely fascinating area of research and expression.
This, despite the decline of geometric tendencies and
Apollonian art in general in local and global popularity. |
