The artist Reuven Berman Kadim has also been active as a teacher, critic and curator. He was the first Israeli artist to abandon traditional rectangular formats as an unquestioned convention.
He seems to be the only artist - perhaps not only in Israel - who has been working within the tenets of Islamic Patterns with the goal of opening them up to contemporary techniques, knowledge and concepts.
Added the Hebrew "Kadim" to his name in 1991.
